The Eastern Costa del Sol is situated between Málaga city and Nerja, and is referred to by the Spanish as the Axarquia region. Here you will find the ideal combination of beautiful beaches, rugged mountains with views and an atmosphere which are beyond words.
There is nothing remotely resembling some of the high-rise areas of this area's counterpart - the Costa del Sol (west). Torre del Mar is a small coastal town with so much to offer from a new beach promenade with palm trees, benches, fountains, lots of shops, cafeterias and fish bars. Torre del Mar has all you need without being too overwhelming or crowded.
Slightly inland you begin to enjoy a mountainous landscape with peaks reaching up to 2065 metres (La Maroma), with gently rising hills lightly coloured by the olive and almond trees and vineyards. Subtropical fruits are grown in the ample fertile valleys. The largest of these valleys is home the area´s capital, Vélez-Málaga. Here the views are breathtaking, full of vegetation and undulating mountains and hills. Its charm is almost mystical.
